Rewind to 12th December 2012. Out of a freezing cold office (because we couldn’t afford heating back then!), our founders huddled round a couple of computer screens. This was the moment. After a year of working round the clock and a lifetime of tempering the thirst to create a world-class brand, we pressed LAUNCH. That was the moment Protein Works website went live to the globe.

It’s not an overly fancy story, we know. There’re no garages worked out of, no office in the Bay Area to talk up. But fancy isn’t in our DNA, innovation is. With the idea to rock the very foundations of a sports nutrition industry that had become complacent, we set out to create an online sports nutrition brand that put pure quality & wow service before lowest possible price. With that vision and all it entails; we knew we’d be the underdogs from the very beginning. But you know what? We love that.

Fast forward almost 8 years and the journey from humble Cheshire beginnings, to over 1 million orders shipped globally may be in the bag, but our future is just beginning…

At our Cheshire based HQ we handle the full business mix - a vast facility over two sites and over 75,000 square feet. On one site you’ll find everything from our Operations Department, including Finance & Customer Experience to Fulfilment and Warehousing, On the second site, you’ve got the engine room of Manufacturing, Product Development, Technology and Digital Marketing teams. Our award-winning Sales & Marketing Team handle the full Performance Marketing mix, Brand Management, Design, Customer Experience, Content Creation, SEO and CRO and Trading. Is it a squeeze? Sure. The Role: Senior Ecom Trading Manager

The role will deliver in three key areas of our team and business:

1. To own the products. Be the advocate, the champion and the obsessive over all thing’s product related. This includes launch management, product and category lifecycle management & promotion and CVR optimization across all stores.

2. To own the content. It’ll all be yours. Across every country and channel. This includes product content (copy, images, media) through to landing page and homepage content. Ensuring it’s on brand and drives performance and engagement.

3. To own the experience. Management of the full on-site customer journey. Ensuring frictionless shopping, owning and driving conversion rate performance through management of the micros and the macros.

This role is responsible for creating a best in class customer experience that delivers against our brand values and the needs of our current and new customers. You will solely manage the creation and execution of our merchandising strategy, working closely with the rest of the digital marketing team to bring product and campaigns to life and to drive our website performance through persistently and consistently optimizing our customer journey.

A key part of your role will be working with the wider marketing team to bring product campaigns from concept through to launch and manage the customer journey throughout those moments from a trading point of view. This includes working with our in-house language experts and managing these relationships to ensure all activity is translated on time and to a very high standard, both for the product launches and campaign deliveries and on an ongoing basis.

This role requires a strong entrepreneurial flair, a really great understanding of ecommerce trading techniques, a passion for data and a real ability to think outside of the box when it comes to user experience and what creates a world class, unbeatable, unique customer experience.

You’ll be targeted to deliver real time, short term and long-term objectives. Through commercial mindset backed up by your incredible ability to build lasting relationships at speed, you’ll look to improve on results month on month as you take bigger piece of the market share as your channel evolves. You’ll look to consistently deliver conversion rate, manage availability whilst seeking to improve GP and AOV metrics.

Whilst you’ll analytical by nature, your understanding of brand management and focus on the customer will be a key driver in the way you manage our brand proposition with integrity and passionate focus on the customers perception and experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leading and developing all members of the Ecom Team in their personal development plans.

2. Be responsible for creating and executing an innovative strategy that enhances the customer journey.

3. Be responsible for managing on-site product availability and lifecycle, working closely with our operations team and using your knowledge to improve and inform the team so we can merchandise our website accordingly to our stock availability.

4. Maintain expertise of the e-commerce landscape and online competitors, identifying category trends and online growth opportunities.

5. Completely own the monitoring of all core KPIs, communicating these daily to the wider business whilst taking action to improve performance.

6. Be responsible for the daily management of our ecommerce websites, making daily optimisations based on past learnings whilst promoting our brand values.

7. To be conscious of accountable for and supportive of the rest of the business in driving targeted YoY Growth and Revenue in all regions.

8. You’ll come in to work with our full mix marketing team, all sitting together and working as one. As part of the trading section in that team you’ll work closely within a group of 3, known as the ‘The Revenue Centre’ within the wider Marketing Team. You’ll be flanked by a Performance team, who specialize in the acquisition of high-quality traffic and what we call the ‘Spend Centre’ of the business. The two teams, not yet 100% complete, will transform the way we’re able to drive and develop our people and delivery our continued growth plans.

9. As a focused Trading specialist, you’ll be responsible for driving growth across Europe in feeding this into the wider business where we proactively trade in key countries like the UK, USA, Canada and Australia.

10. Create and deliver a trading strategy that capitalises on Product Campaigns, Trends & CRO opportunities.

11. Leading the rollout of our Global Ecom Roadmap

12. A full site audit to discover and fix conversion blockers, using bounce rates

13. Leading a new project to enhance our customer journey for New Customers.

14. Constant management & delivery of key performance targets within your channels

15. Roll out of agreed strategy in your channels

16. Real time monitoring of channel performance, co-ordinating with trading teams to deliver to target

17. Constant identification of new areas of opportunity, conducting trails and driving growth

Essentially required

1. 3+ years’ experience in an online Trading/Merchandising role.

2. Proven Analytical Skills

3. Proven experience working within a marketing teams

4. Proven track record of delivering to target and exceeding business goals

5. Experience working for an Ecommerce FMCG business

6. Highly experienced in google analytics
