Rewind to 12th December 2012. Out of a freezing cold office (because we couldn’t afford heating back then!), our founders huddled round a couple of computer screens. This was the moment. After a year of working round the clock and a lifetime of tempering the thirst to create a world-class brand, we pressed LAUNCH. That was the moment protein works.™ website went live to the globe.

It’s not an overly fancy story, we know. There’re no garages worked out of, no office in the Bay Area to talk up. But fancy isn’t in our DNA, innovation is. With the idea to rock the very foundations of a sports nutrition industry that had become complacent, we set out to create an online sports nutrition brand that put pure quality & wow service before lowest possible price. With that vision and all it entails; we knew we’d be the underdogs from the very beginning. But you know what? We love that.

Fast forward almost 8 years and the journey from humble Cheshire beginnings, to over 1 million orders shipped globally may be in the bag, but our future is just beginning…

At our Cheshire based HQ we handle the full business mix - a vast facility over two sites and over 75,000 square feet. On one site you’ll find everything from our Operations Department, including Finance & Customer Experience to Fulfilment and Warehousing, On the second site, you’ve got the engine room of Manufacturing, Product Development, Technology and Digital Marketing teams. Our award-winning Sales & Marketing Team handle the full Performance Marketing mix, Brand Management, Design, Customer Experience, Content Creation, SEO and CRO and Trading. Is it a squeeze? Sure. You and members of your team will be new to the role, giving you fantastic comradery from the off whilst being flanked by the CMO who’s over 12 years digital retail experience & 3 years’ experience at the brand and a passionate approach to customer experience and brand management – two core elements you’ll be driving. You’ll take the lead on implementing our new Customer Wow programme internationally, across our customer base, getting the opportunity to grow into a truly global role within this customer focused, marketing role.

The Role: Head of Earned Media & Influencers

This is a newly formed role within the business and has been created for three primary reasons;

1. To launch a global influencer programme that delivers real commercial and awareness impact

2. To centralise the management of our earned media, PR, bloggers, forums etc to ignite growth

3. To innovate in social paid & organic with exceptional content, in order to amplify our brand & drive revenue growth

Reporting into the CMO, you’ll be solely responsible acquiring and retaining our customers in the UK and Europe through building out a strong, ground breaking Influencer network to supercharge our brand awareness and social media channels, ultimately growing our business through your creative and commercial management. You’ll deliver a strong commercial and sustainable team of influencers that generate a soild and growing base of new customers and revenue steam for the business. You’ll work with our Head of Brand to ensure we amplify influencer content to add value to our customer base and increase awareness.

Your commercial eye will look to hit your channel growth numbers as efficiently as possible for the business and your creative flair will look to do this as impactfully as possible for our customers as they experience our brand on the platforms they take to for personal connection and inspiration. As such you’ll be challenged to manage your commercials and the brand in all aspects of your role.

You’ll be part of a senior team with your colleagues driving our Brand, PPC, SEO, Affiliates and Partnership channels. As such you’ll be flanked by a Head of Trading & their team who will specialising in the management of our on-site performance and what we call the ‘Revenue Centre’ of the business.

You’ll be targeted to deliver real time, short term and long-term objectives. Through your management and ability to mine & interpret platform and analytics data quickly, you’ll look to improve on results month on month. You’ll look to consistently deliver authentic engagement, manage ROI & A:R and improve CPAs as core metrics. You’ll naturally challenge yourself to smash targets and demand more budget and tools as you pave the way for success in your channel.

Whilst you’ll be a number and target driven person and your understanding of brand management and focus on the customer will be a key driver in the way you manage our brand proposition with integrity and passionate focus on the customers perception and experience.

The Things You’ll Nail as Standard

1. Constant management & delivery of key performance targets in all owned channels

2. Influencer relationship management to ensure high acquisition and retention rates as well as activation rates

3. Roll out of agreed strategy across all earned media channels incl influencers, PR, bloggers.

4. Manage influencers on creative projects and amplify campaigns

5. Work with wider marketing and creative teams to develop campaign ideas

6. Building relationships with key contacts, including media partners and social influencers across sports nutrition, wellness, foodie, and fitness networks

7. Real time monitoring of channel performance, co-ordinating with trading teams to deliver to target

8. Management of your budget, optimising the mix to drive profitable growth.

9. Increasing marketing efficiency to enable reinvestment into growth channels

10. Identification of new areas of opportunity within the social, conducting trails and driving growth

11.Supporting the Revenue Centre Team (Trading) by working closely to ensure there’s cohesion between off site and on-site marketing and a gold standard journey for our customers

12. Ahead of the curve industry knowledge of your in order to capitalise on first to market growth and opportunity

13. Effective and relevant reporting your manager and CMO

14. Day to day management of the PR contacts and possible agency, including sample sending, campaign management

15. Roll out of marketing campaigns consistency and effectively across your channels

16. Ensure the brand is represented to the highest possible degree in all interactions, posts, engagements across all countries at all times

17.Out of hours management of your community recognising that social doesn’t switch off

1. Clear and proven experience in influencer management, and KPIs that show they can deliver in this channel

2. Proven experience and an impressive track record of managing social media and influencer activity (including strategy, content planning and management, paid media and targeting, optimisation and publishing algorithms, building and engaging communities and social listening & reporting)

3. Creative, high energy, innovative, proactive and resourceful individual ready to take on a challenge

4. Proven track record of delivering to target

5. Experience working for an online and/or retail business

6. Highly experienced on all social platforms, Facebook Ad Manager, Analytics, Excel
