Rewind to 12th December 2012. Out of a freezing cold office (because we couldn’t afford heating back then!), our founders huddled round a couple of computer screens. This was the moment. After a year of working round the clock and a lifetime of tempering the thirst to create a world-class brand, we pressed LAUNCH. That was the moment Protein Works website went live to the globe.

It’s not an overly fancy story, we know. There’re no garages worked out of, no office in the Bay Area to talk up. But fancy isn’t in our DNA, innovation is. With the idea to rock the very foundations of a sports nutrition industry that had become complacent, we set out to create an online sports nutrition brand that put pure quality & wow service before lowest possible price. With that vision and all it entails; we knew we’d be the underdogs from the very beginning. But you know what? We love that.

Fast forward almost 8 years and the journey from humble Cheshire beginnings, to over 1 million orders shipped globally may be in the bag, but our future is just beginning…

At our Cheshire based HQ we handle the full business mix - a vast facility over two sites and over 75,000 square feet. On one site you’ll find everything from our Operations Department, including Finance & Customer Experience to Fulfilment and Warehousing, On the second site, you’ve got the engine room of Manufacturing, Product Development, Technology and Digital Marketing teams. Our award-winning Sales & Marketing Team handle the full Performance Marketing mix, Brand Management, Design, Customer Experience, Content Creation, SEO and CRO and Trading. Is it a squeeze? Sure. You’ll experience fantastic comradery from the off, with a diverse range of talented individuals all around you, making up one unique team ethos. You’re going to take the lead on all projects across the business related to everything from Technology to Operations. You will be involved in challenging and innovative projects from conception to completion and be a key driver in the process. From project scoping and resource planning to daily stand-ups and product testing, you will be the “go-to” person for all elements within each project. The role will include not only our multi-million pound ecommerce platforms, data warehouses, operational departments, marketing and product development, making this opportunity truly diverse, exciting and unique. This role will suit a self-motivated team-player with digital expertise, great people skills and great attention to detail.

The Role: Ecommerce Product Owner – Access All Areas

This is a newly formed role within the business and has been created for three primary reasons;-

1. To effectively manage end to end the key projects across the business from concept to launch

2. To support all teams in delivering projects on time, to scope and to budget

3. To ensure that all projects add tangible value to the business when we need it most

You’ll be responsible for the management of multiple projects across the business including ecommerce, apps, WMS, ERP, product launches, new country launches and more! You will work on a wide variety of projects ensuring effective inter-personal communication, planning and reporting to ensure projects are of high quality, fit for purpose and delivered on time.

You will take a very much 'hands-on’ approach to the running of projects from testing end-to-end, Jira management, milestone mapping and of course delivery scheduling. You will have the ability to tailor the selected approach on a project by project basis (Agile, Waterfall etc.). The ideal candidate will have an excellent project management background and have commercial acumen and be able to make important business decisions and work on your own initiative. You will have the opportunity to identify improvements to current ways of working, make recommendations to senior management and implement these as and when required.

Non-Negotiables

1. Excellent understanding of multiple Project Management methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, Prince2, Waterfall etc)

2. Good understanding of software development and IT related business operations (full software development lifecycle, UX/UI, Front-End facing projects etc.).

3. Experience in full project lifecycle (scoping, estimation, end-to-end etc.).

4. Clear and proven experience in project management or as a product owner

5. Proven track record of delivering to target

6. Experience working for an online and/or retail business

Desirables

1. Previous experience working for an ecommerce FMCG brand

2. An understanding of / experience in the latest UX and ecommerce trends

3. Ability to grow into a more senior role as the organisation develops
