What is Oxxynea™ — The Magic of the Mediterranean
The Mediterranean approach to nutrition is famed for its plentiful supply of plant-based foods that range from fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts. This in turn helps to produce a diet that has one of the highest recorded contents of vitamins, minerals and healthy fats in the modern science. It also produces a dietary protocol that the media widely praise for producing one of the healthiest populations — with the longest life expectancies — in the world. Which is why, during a time when nutritionists state we do not eat enough fruit and veg on a daily basis, the Mediterranean represented a great source of inspiration for our Supergrain Protein Pots.
Looking at our requirement for fruit and vegetable in more detail, the recommendation from the World Health Organisation is that we should aim to eat a minimum of 400g a day (equal to around 5 80g portions). This led to the beginning of the “5-a-day” fruit and vegetables campaign that was introduced after seeing the benefits of a ‘Mediterranean’ approach to eating. In short, a diet high in fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds- major sources of antioxidants.
Polyphenols are the main antioxidants in fruit and vegetables. Oxxynea™ is a revolutionary full-spectrum polyphenol concentrate which provides the benefits of the Mediterranean diet and delivers the equal antioxidant potency as the recommended 5 daily portions of fruit and vegetables.
Oxxynea™ has been developed from a selection of 22 natural extracts and concentrates from fruit and vegetables:
Fruit: Red grape, white grape, bilberry, grapefruit, papaya, pineapple, strawberry, apple, apricot, cherry, orange, blackcurrant.
Vegetables: Green tea, carrot, tomato, broccoli, green cabbage, onion, garlic, wheat germ, asparagus, olive, cucumber.
