THE PUMP
Let’s be honest who doesn’t love that pumped feeling after a hard workout? Only after a good pump do you feel like your muscle’s have worked hard enough to be worthy of bicep flex, gym mirror selfie.
You feel on top of the world, ready to conquer anything. As the big man Arnie, said himself, “the greatest feeling you can get in the gym, is the pump”. (anyone else say that in his voice or was that just us?)
The pump is basically an increase of blood flow to your working muscles. This gives you the feeling of being ‘pumped up’, making your muscles feel full and gives the impression of being much bigger.
The pump can often make you look more vascular too, with veins popping out in places you never knew you had veins.
Not only does an increase in blood flow help with nutrient absorption as your body can pass on what is needed quicker and easier but it also helps you psychologically, making you feel better about your workout, resulting in you working harder and performing that extra rep, which could potentially lead to greater gains. What isn’t there to love about the pump?!
